An Evening to Honor Gene Wolfe -- 17 March 2012

The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame presented Gene Wolfe with the first Henry Blake Fuller Award for lifetime achievement in literature on March 17th, 2012. The event was called "An Evening to Honor Gene Wolfe". The event took place at the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills, IL, and was hosted by Gary K. Wolfe. Peter Sagal was toastmaster. Neil Gaiman gave a personal tribute to Gene Wolfe and read Wolfe's story "A Solar Labyrinth''. Michael Swanwick, David Hartwell, Patrick O'Leary, Michael Dirda, and others gave tribute. There was also a live performance of Wolfe's story "The Toy Theater" as adapted by Lawrence Santoro. It was performed by Terra Mysterium with Debra Ann Miller. Tickets began at $65 for just the performance and $150 for the dinner and the performance.
